Any chaos will be in Kent ( and other UK lorry parks )

The UK Government  narrative is clear. If there's friction exporting to the EU and it's "all a bit slipshod and disorganised and there's therefore chaos because of failure of the EU to plan" then HMG is going to blame the direct consequences of leaving the Customs Union and Single Market on the EU. We've left the EU and at the end of the year we exit the Withdrawal Agreement's Transition Period that's been in place since the 1st of Feb. During the Transition Period we continued to be in the Customs Union and Single Market although no longer an EU member. That's what's kept our imports and exports flowing freely since then. It means we're yet to feel the practical effects of Brexit. Next year the EU will continue to exist and operate its Customs Union and Single Market. With or without an FTA, as we'll be outside the Customs Union and Single Market and a third country, all our exports to the EU will be subject to checks at the border. Wh...

Too exciting!

Tuesday evening was a little too exciting.

The drive to work on Tuesday morning was accompanied by a clunking noise coming
from the tiv when going over bumps.

In the afternoon I drove into town to go to a charity ball committe meeting. Just as I was nearing my destination there was a graunching sound and the suspension went very hard. I parked up and started to investigate. It did not take long to see that the driver's side front spring/damper unit was broken. The tiv was going nowhere fast.

First things first. I called the AA and they sent out a flat bed recovery truck to take me home. In the mean time I went to my committe meeting. The AA texted me shortly before the recovery truck turned up. I was able to drive the tiv onto the truck and we made for home. Normally the AA would have taken the tiv on to a garage but it was late and the TVR garages I know were closed.

On Wednesday morning I rung Fernhurst TVR to see if they could accomodate me a sort notice - now! Unfortunatly they could not - they were booked up and did not have new spring/damper units. So I rang Tower View Race Services. I've been meaning to give them a go for a while. I was inluck in that they had new spring/damper units in stock but were not sure they could do the work on the same day. With nothing much to lose I asked the AA to relay to Tiv to Tower View Race Services.

I was in luck. They were able to do the work yesterday afternoon. Something about another car being a pain to work on. A nice, easy spring/damper fitting probably made for a rest! I was able to collect the Tiv in the afternoon and drive home.

I'm happy again!

Oh yes, lots of wind and rain so all the motoring has been top up this week.

I'm going to stick with Chimaera as it 's TVR's spelling of Chimaera in the manual. There's a Wikipedia entry for Chimera which gives Chimaera as an alternative spelling.
