Any chaos will be in Kent ( and other UK lorry parks )

The UK Government  narrative is clear. If there's friction exporting to the EU and it's "all a bit slipshod and disorganised and there's therefore chaos because of failure of the EU to plan" then HMG is going to blame the direct consequences of leaving the Customs Union and Single Market on the EU. We've left the EU and at the end of the year we exit the Withdrawal Agreement's Transition Period that's been in place since the 1st of Feb. During the Transition Period we continued to be in the Customs Union and Single Market although no longer an EU member. That's what's kept our imports and exports flowing freely since then. It means we're yet to feel the practical effects of Brexit. Next year the EU will continue to exist and operate its Customs Union and Single Market. With or without an FTA, as we'll be outside the Customs Union and Single Market and a third country, all our exports to the EU will be subject to checks at the border. Wh

A Battery of Problems!

Well, on Thursday night the TVR would not start. Serves me right for have a TVR you might say.

The problem was that when I tried to start the car the starter motor would engage but the engine would not turn over. A jump start from a cow-orker was needed to get me home. Suspecting that I'd left my lights on as I had the day before, when I got home I connected up the battery charger.

On Friday morning the engine just turned over, caught and I was off to work. I managed to
get home on Friday evening with much the same problem. I then put the battery on charge over
the weekend.

On Monday morning the charger was still telling me that the battery was not fully charged so I started to suspect the battery. I did managed to get to and from work but only just.

Tuesday was much the same.

Once home on Tuesday evening I went and got a new battery from Halfords because they were open and had the right size (072) in stock. I then charged it up over night in the garage. This morning the charger said the battery was fully charged.

This morning, while waiting for the worst of the dentists anaesthetic to wear off I swapped the battery on the TVR. It's a simple if tedious process as the battery is pop-riveted into the battery box which is bolted to the floor. Getting the box and battery out is easy but bolting the box back
to the floor with the new battery in is rather a fiddle. Before I completely reassembled the battery box I made sure the new battery was working. Sure enough, the starter motor had plenty of power to turn over the engine and all is well again.

I even managed to drive into work top down!
